Pushroot Community Garden Mission:

To provide a local source of organically grown fruits and vegetables, educate young people and adults about the benefits of gardening, and cultivate a community of individuals committed to sustainable land use in an urban setting.

Our Objectives:

To facilitate food security and community involvement: With support of a non-profit relationship with the Lander Care and Share Food Bank, we encourage gardeners to give back to the community by sharing their garden produce, knowledge, and dedication with others.

Sustainable gardening techniques: We encourage organic, non-chemical growing techniques to provide healthy and organic food within healthy organic soil.

Education: We intend to provide on-site educational opportunities through partnership with Lights On (an after school program for grades 3rd-6th) to enhance the knowledge of our youth members and engage them in sustainable living practices.

Staying local: By fully utilizing Amoretti Park, we provide habitat for backyard wildlife such as bee’s, birds and bats. This is accomplished through native landscaping, xericscaping, and the building and maintaining of bird and bat houses. We also encourage the planting of vegetables and fruits which are native and sustainable in our climate.

Common space: From its conception it has been a top priority to designate a gathering space where education, meditation or relaxation is welcomed. This spot is open to all members of the Lander Valley community. dscn2339wood chip spreading by volunteers summer 2008
